Not doing it myself I fear it would be a ride too far..., but just giving those who are planning to use the train to get back to London some background info based on this weekend's experience. I make regular trips out to Suffolk to see family and for what has seemed like an eternity there have been weekend engineering works. For the last few weekends on Sunday this has meant that there have been no trains from Marks Tey (one stop closer to London from Colchester) to Ipswich with a replacement bus service between the two. I think trains resume again after Ipswich as you head away from London. So I would advise anyone thinking I'll just ride back to Ipswich to check their travel arrangements first as it is a fair old way from Dunwich to Marks Tey - National Rail Enquiries is 0845 7 48 49 50.
