  • Any riders with day to day experience using Campag Record large flange single side fixed track hubs on today’s typical road conditions/odd cinder track commute run. On a well built wheel are they considered up to it.

Wouldn't mind any feedback from the assembled.

    Thanks for reading.

  • 50% will say "yeah these are fine" and the other half will say "no way Jose".

then you'll go buy some goldtecs ;)

  • Last time I lived with a Campy Record hub it was awful, never did the washing up and left stubble in the sink.

    Git.

  • Never trust an Italian...

  • Until the advent of sealed bearings people used unsealed hubs for years without problems. They require an additional level of maintenance than sealed hubs but if you're prepared to take that on, and all it means is that you have to strip them out, clean them, then repack the bearings with fresh grease every few months, then they are fine.

  • Shit, I should re-pack mine this weekend.

I've rarely left the bike out in the rain since the last time, so it will be fine.

  • I ran them for over a year on a set of tubs, no tricks mind but they were fine for everday stuff.

Everyone should suffer loose bearings and Campag at one stage of their lives and then move onto sealed bearings and functional kit all will be well in your life. :)
