Cycling cap is GOOD!

• #8053
But he should be wearing a helmet... and not going through any red lights.
-
• #8054
Jesus, does the man have a brake? For the love of god, buy him a brake!
-
• #8055
You can wear a cap under a helmet - that's part of the design!
-
• #8056
Yeah, and you can wear your underwear on the outside of your trousers too.
-
• #8057
That's a very good point. So, either a cap, a brake, or an arrospok.
-
• #8058
Or some new underpants.
-
• #8059
he already has a bianchi cap that he loves, i was thinking about getting a campagnola one maybe?
-
• #8060
Get a LCEF one, nice cap plus the money goes to a good cause.
-
• #8061
I'll pre-empt the next question: use the search.
-
• #8062
Now post a photo of bike and face. It's not that tricky.
-
• #8063
If it's caps you want, nothing is better than a Ploughman Craven cap.

That was my first suggestion.
christ i was just asking for some advice, tom, you don't have to be such a tosser.
I'm a tosser for pointing out how stupid and vague a question it was? I'm sure that you are quite happy to assume that everyone that rides fixed gear bikes are the same and have the same tastes, but they don't.
For expensive presents, the polo players (and possibly tricksters) would want some 661 D30 body armour, the gents with the NOS Colnagos (henceforth referred to as tweedsters) would like that Rapha scarf idea, while the hardcore trackies might want a good turbo-trainer or a private assessment by Lee Povey (is that right?).
For cheap presents there are caps and t-shirts. Personally I'd rather have an LCEF cap than a Campag one, as I have no interest in Campag. If he likes classic punk logos, the Hell Yeah! shirts are good, and Tokyo Fixed Gear has some nice ones.
For utility presents there are multi-tools, pumps and locks.
This ignores the idea of bike parts and performance cycling clothing (i.e. shoes, padded shorts).
If you want more specific present buying advice, try telling us more about your boyfriend than just how long he has been riding fixed:
How serious a cyclist he is
What sort of bike he owns
How keen he is on maintenance
What sort of cycling he tends to do (including regularity and distance)
Whether he rides other bikes than the fixed gear
And budget. The stuff I've listed above goes from about £15 - £300+. -

This bike (singlespeed, 24-spoke wheels) is freaking amazing for drawing attention..
1) Every fucking 10 meters someone comments on it, "look at that!", "LOOK AT THAT WEIRD BIKE!", "HOW DO YOU GET UP?", "HOW DO YOU GET DOWN?", "YOUR NOT GONNA RIDE THAT ONE HOME FRIDAY NIGHT!" and so on and so on.
2) People film me with their mobile, and take photos of me all the time..
3) Yesterday some guy even asked me if I want to be in a documentary about bikes.haha... it's amazing :) and a fun ride..
how do you get down at lights? i've seen you a few times and wondered that...

yo, my boyfriend's been riding fixed for about a year but i've yet to pick up any tips and need to buy his birthday present really soon. can anyone suggest any accessories apart from courier bags?? safe
jeez this seems like a perfectly innocent, nice-person sort of question. why're so many people here so quick to jump on anyone being vague and friendly, why is vague and friendly so bad?

Mostly I don't.. If the lights turn red I try to ride very slowly until it turns green again, or find a signpost or something else to hold on to until it changes.. If not possible then I just turn right and wait for a chance to cross the road..
Sometimes it causes a small detour, but who cares, this bike is all about riding for fun :)
Seen me? are you in Copenhagen?

oh, sorry, must have you confused with another cycgiraffalist. the specimen i have observed is of similar height and presumably a similar genus to yourself. I have noted that the London beast migrates regularly along the hammersmith road. I have indeed spied it clinging to lamp posts. I didn't yell out or anything as i didn't want to disturb and upset it in its natural environment and ruin any chance of a successful mating with, i dunno, a stilt walker or carnivalist. Fascinating.

haha...
I think people yelling out are part of it's natural enviroment.. since I get comments every minute riding that thing :)

nice, Jay
Cycling cap? Team ones are about £6, LCEF about the same (depending on where you buy it), swrve & rapha about £10-12, smear up to £25, rapha wool about £30. Price and style to suit all tastes!
