I get your point pastrylover, but I guess its a social club type of thing going on. I could actually turn up, not enter and still ride the corse with everyone else for free, and still socialise - but I would be a tool for doing it 8-D.
I haven't posted it on Birmingham cyclist, but maybe someone else has by now ? At this point I must mention I am not a member of the promoting club, but am a member of another W'ton club, but I would hate to see them organise an event and no one turn up.
I understand that these types of event are not everyones cup of tea, but its nice to get the fxd out and ride with the geared gang at times

I'll add it to the brum cyclist site now as it hasn't been added by anyone.
(Just so you know, I wasn't making a dead-serious piss-take - I take the piss out of everything.)

^ well done dude, they'll be happy of your support.
I was gonna attempt this event on my fxd as I have just got it on the road, but after months and months of using my s/s conversion mtb I am struggling with my Pomps 48/16. By the time this event comes around I will either have got used to it again, or the event will kill me trying to get round it.
Any ideas on gearing for events of this size, should I go up 2 teeth and run an 18 instead ?
TIA

i use 48 x 18. 48 x 16 sounds like hell

^ PL, it is only 'the sting in the tail' I am worried about - suppose if the going gets tuff I could always walk up whatever it is 8-}

I'm running 45 18 but lots of people would find that spinny. I prefer making it up hills than going down quickly.

• #16
I think it maybe time to crack open the 18 tooth then
