was anyone there before 8.30? I got there then and nobody was there, although there were a couple of fixed gears outside the rainbow. Laurence got there bout 8.45 but he was riding a 10 speed.
Anyway, shall we try again next week? It's about a 10 minute walk from snow hill I reckon.

rainrainrain. . .rain. My fault guys, just re-built my geared bike, everytime I finish a build it rains like a bastard.

it's nice to have some proper tropical-storm type rain rather than the pissy dribble we're usually fobbed off with. riding home was ace - the water was a couple of inches deep in places.
i've cracked open the first ale of the evening (thanks again hyperallah for delivering me from sobriety) and am up for more somewhere else if it stops raining.

lol... heavy rain, 'nice'! it's only nice when you're on your way to stay somewhere dry!

it's the glory of a 10 minute commute - i sit inside a stuffy old factory all day and go so stir-crazy that i practically rejoice in the biblical weather!
even so, i prefer a proper downpour to the on/off will it-won't it 'squally' showers we always have. it feels like you're manning up and rising to the challenge, rather than being a bit of a feeble softy wearing your waterproofs and sweating your balls off.

Nah man, i know exactly what you mean. Not nice to be in it all day but I love it when it rains just before i'm about to ride home from work, and it's heavy as fuck - I must look insane to other people but I actually really enjoy it and it puts a big grin on my face. Not only is it very refreshing, but it's pretty funny. You're passing all these people in their enclosed, soft-interiored drywagons with comfy seats and warmed air, and watching people RUN with umbrellas. What the fuck are they running from? They seeem so scared of a little bit of water, while you're having a good time letting nature moisten you and it actually does feel quite nice and you wonder why they're so afraid of getting wet.
Skin is the ultimate breathable, waterproof base layer, no need for waterproofs! Could have done with the waterproof jacket on the ride from Leuven back to Overijse though, just to keep me warm...

i had a similarly moist touring experience somewhere in norway, or possibly sweden, when it rained for about 3 days non-stop. i even put on my budget waterproof trousers and socks which kept me dry for all of 10 minutes - actually, the socks weren't budget and were accordingly pretty good, but my feet were still bath-time wrinkly at the end due to excessive scandanavian sweatage. putting up a tent in the rain sucks. 'drying' clothes in a public toilet sucks also.

I had the same thoughts myself ..... Finished off my Pomp yesterday morning and went off to work on it for the afternoon shift, you can imagine the scene last night trying to tackle the streets of Wolvo for the commute home while they were full of Friday night party goers, and the rain, oh the rain 8-{
8pm this Friday, Wagon and Horses, Adderly Street, Digbeth.
This could be the start of a beautiful thing.
Me and Pistaboy will be there at the least. There's some live music going on, a band and probably a dj too, but there's a normal pub bit too, so should be something for everyone. If you don't know anybody then that's fine, come along anyway. I'll wear a retarded bright pink cycling hat so the cycling massive can be identified. Not really a cycling thing, more of a drinking thing. I doubt I'll cycle in anyway, but there is a metal fence that you can lock up to.
