any chain by sram or kmc, even the cheapest should be fine. If it continues then maybe its the rear cog (more likely than the chainring)
Epic washes off very quickly and needs to be applied very regularly although it does work the best when it has just been applied. Try white lighening WAXLUBE as it lasts longer and runs quieter.
