Proving the value of a frame?

I had a frame damaged as it was delivered... is there any way to prove its value?

It was an Italian 653 road frame in reasonable nick, I'm asking for £85 compensation (downtube bent), it was insured up to £150 with parcelforce.

Anyone got any experience with this kind of thing, or seen a valuing chart online?

get a quote to have the tube replaced and forward that to parcelfarce
ask condor superted argos and give them the highest quote

Signed letter from a bike shop would probably do the trick. Get them to value it at £150, and give them a tenner for their troubles.

It's going to cost more than 85 to get the tube replaced. In fact, probably more than 150 once you include painting.

It'd be 105 + VAT at Mercian for the tube and shipping. Then another 85+ for a re-spray.

Well the frame only cost me £60, but it was badly listed... didn't want to be too cheeky but I was gutted when it arrived bent.

Repair quote sounds good to me, I'll start re-filling out forms... gah.

Argos would be 210 + shipping to repair and repaint.

And it doesn't matter what you paid. Only what it would cost to have the bike you bought. They fucked up.

I had an incident like this when I posted a frame to a buyer. Parcel force got it there a week late (48hr!) and the very well packed box was torn to bits. It was sturdy BMX, but it was a bit scuffed.

I sent them some stuff to prove the value of the frame alone, waited about 6 months then got a reply saying someone knocked the door of the recipient but no one opened, so case closed - no more right to compensation.

Parcel force is really really shit. Standard royal mail is way more reliable.

I've sent a package on for a claim... I'll follow it up everyday if necessary like a dog with a bone.
