have resorted to exfoliation, but still waiting for nhs op on my sores.
shower 2 or 3 times a day, using tea tree, germolene etc. so possibly my ass is cleaner than my mouth!
bib shorts and assos cream for any ride over 15 miles.

In answer to the OP a) cleanliness is next to godliness and b) get a Fizik Arione
Yep.
I started getting one of those boil-like saddles sores when I first started riding a Charge Spoon. Swapped to a Fizik Arione and within a few weeks it is gone.
Really like the saddle too.

keeping clean and chamois cream work for me. I just upped my commute from 8.5 to 13 miles one-way and noticed a big difference in chafing, so started using some chamois cream before rides and the magical sudocreme after, works a treat. Shower after every ride too.
If I forget the chamois cream cos I'm in a rush in the morning I know all about it around 10 miles later.

Just did a quick google on that, whaoh, f*ck that shit, apparently I can relax a litle as they are more likely to strike the more hirsute male.

You are most welcome to try mine if the opportunity arises. We can go for the fist if you like, unless you're a farrier or a chippy.

assos chamois cream and a pair of decent bib shorts ftw.
125 miles on Saturday and not a peep of discomfort (well from my arse anyway, my shoulders on the other hand were a different matter, not really surprising though consdering the longest ride I've done this year is 30 miles!)
Also I think it sometimes helps to vary saddles a little bit, try to wearholes in new places and let the old ones heal up a bit, so if I getsaddle sores and they are getting to be painfull the I switch over to my trusty brooks, which I don't find that comfortable but doest give me any kind of chaffing.

I got one once, from my research, seems some people get them, some don't... bit like hayfever of the arse...
