for the record i managed to sort this without resorting to dremels, grinders or saws.
First up i washed the area with soapy water then fresh water to get rid of any road shit. This was followed by a light assault with a 2lb lump hammer, before liberal application of teflon spray and another round with the lump hammer. The bike was then placed on its side and the appropriate allen key placed in the bolt. I then stood on the key and gently worked it loose with my body weight. thus i still have a usable clamp bolt. excellent
