In all honestly, he's simply wasn't looking out for cyclists because he doesn't expect them, if you live in an area where cyclists are rare, you wouldn't be expecting them, so I doubt he's doing that on purpose as if he hate cyclists.
just call him up and explain the situation, maybe he'll apologise since you're his customer, or tell you that you shouldn't be in the road in the first place.
