Woolich Ferry (North Side) to Monument

  • Just moved next to the airport, does anyone do this ride? I have ridden it along the roads at the weekend and it seems well busy so on weekdays it will be even worse! I was wondering if there is a river side way or cycle track some where.

    If anyone lives near by it would be cool to go for a ride too!

    Cheers,

    Ad

  • the thames path run intermittently along that section
    st katharines dock
    shad thames
    docklands
    greenwich foot tunnel ( north side )
    canning town
    city airport

    it's like a game of mornington cresent with tim brooke taylor and paul merton

  • I'd have invoked the Montreal convention to shave 5 minutes off the journey...

  • ah you are knowledgable about the rules !!!!!! they can be a bit complex at times can't they
    it's like red dwarf and the space core directive rules that crighton and rimmer always disagree on !!
    nice to meet a fellow fan !

  • I used to ride that way to work.

    Woolwich foot tunnel ->

    factory road ->

    North Woolwich road all by the DLR, (you can even go on a cycle path along there if you want but I would't bother it's never that busy.) ->

    Left at big roundabout onto Lower lea crossing this is the only nasty bit but there is a cycle lane over this bridge too, I always just ride on the road here as again it's never that busy.

    Once your over the river lea you can now just hit up the A13 / commercial road (faster) or or go though Docklands and onto Poplar High st -> Narrow street. (quieter but alot slower).

    It's not a bad route the only bad is the lower Lea crossing which has the cycle lane anyway.

    If your not confident try getting some cycle training, everyone that does seems to highly recommend it.

    P.S I would not recommend the Thames path to actually get any where plus it would add a big distance as you have to ride round the bollock of London.

  • or do an alley cat and learn the fast way !

  • My way is the fastest from N. Woolwich.

    My way is always the fastest.

  • Yes, the 'rules'. I always observe them closely.

    I think I might start a 'Game of Mornington Crescent' thread...

  • superb
    get it going
    i'll have to bring the "rule book" into work to make sure no one cheats

  • dont bother with the thames path, i live in woolwich mate and if you planning on getting to work for nine you will need to leave really early if riding the thames path. i would go will the route tommy suggested, ive done it before and i find that if you leave a bit earlier its not so busy. we should meet for a beer as i dont no any local forum lads!
