well what were youre mayhem stories this year people?
best weather and conditions for 4 years, fast and expect the results to show some big lap totals.Box Deluxe cool to meet you, how many did you put in the bag?
My vets team -23. I put in 6 sub-hour laps, well happy with that over 9 mile dirt circuits.
Personal highlights:- 10pm-11pm dusk lap into darkness.
12-1 am night lap with Kraftwerk on Ipod uncannily seeming to blend into terrain, 'model' on kenda climb, 'numbers', 't,d,f' etc on fast sections and 'music non stop' on the last descent. 6-7am lap racing whole way swapping places with a fit, fit anonymous girl-fantastic technical climber.loads and loads of cake

I got in 18 laps overall. The first 11 hours I was flying and did 11 laps including a meal stop. This was followed by a 2 hour epic night lap where I fell asleep whilst peddling up the climb.I restarted in the morning at 6am and managed 6 fast-ish laps before bonking completely with two hours to go and making it to the top of the final descent with 5mins left, needless to say the descent took me 5 and a half minutes at that was me done.
Was cool to meet emmeff - pity not to see you on course, would have been cool to have ridden a lap together (or together ish considering my incredbly slow speed at some points)

18 laps=162 milesish off road in one day, you can be proud of yourself for that, good effort indeed. Have no idea what the climb was but I would hazard each lap at least that of Ditchling Beacon, thats 18 Ditchlings -off road too. respect to you.

The bit I enjoyed most was passing people with 2 other soloists on the Kenda Klimb, asking them how many laps they were on and them answering "3" then, asking us back and all of us going "12"..... that makes it worth the pain (and going a little bit crazy) of doing a 24hr solo, that and the massive sense of achievement you get from it. If you asked me half way through if I'd do it again I would have said no, ask me now and I'd say definitely. It is worth all of the effort and chatting to the other solo riders in the middle of the night makes it all worth while.

I could see the satisfaction of that yeah, nice effort. maybe solo it next year...
we came 15/79 which was pretty good, for my part the consistancy was most important, all my laps were between 50-57 minutes
