• Well, that's the only photo I have ever seen of a failed c-record track hub, and it surfaces every time there is a discussion about building with them. Campy also made a road version of the same hub, and I think their quality is good enough to ride on road, as long as your wheelbuild is good and you're not bunny hopping potholes and dropping kerbs!

    I think yours are the pre 1984 version, so there's no worries about riding on the road there, having even more metal in the flanges. I believe the pre-c-record ones were forged, and the c-record were forged and then milled, hence the different finish/worries about strength.

    If you really do want to ride you campy/tub combo on the track then just go for a budget london street wheelbuild like mavic CXP 22 on system ex hubs
