I never get saddle sores. But if I did, I'd make sure that I put clean shorts on every day - on pain of death - and that I washed thoroughly after every ride. A new saddle will likely solve the problem. Probably a narrower one.

In the meantime, you might want to dab some Manuka honey on the boil. Get the sort that's been tested for anti-bacterial activity. Not cheap, but it works...I imagine. :-)

Talk of cleanliness is a myth. Use chamois cream or vaseline and you can wear the same shorts for a month. Mmm stinking shorts...

Seriously, as others have posted, keep the undercarriage clean.
Also, try and keep the area cool and well-aired by getting your bum off the saddle as frequently as possible.

2 drops of tea tree oil. Spread it over your fingertips, then rub it around the high risk areas. For me, that's the skin around where my sit bones are, the creases either side of my perineum (yes, I said 'my perineum' - so what, deal with it bastards), and where my inner thighs rub against the saddle.

A little goes a long way, and seriously fucks with the bacteria.
