  • @Eddie / Bletchley > Stones lot

Been working on a route that avoids major roads, and is quite a striaght line..

    Am I mad?

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=uk&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=104684275279654287003.00046c798e23ecd820840

  • OK try now.

  • If you're doing that, you may as well come out of South Tidworth and through Bulford Camp to Amesbury.

  • YEp, thought that little cut would be worth using too.

I'm still tuning it, might have to just hit the A roads for a bit at the start too, looks messy up to around Thame so far. Might have to just flipping go to Aylesbury. Which is not something I like to do.

  • I've taken a note of your number and I'll give you a call sometime this week about Stones-Swindon, TSK. I don't have a mobile phone, so finding each other amid the crowds at Stonehenge will hopefully be doable. We'll get there around nightfall, so much earlier than those leaving from London overnight, and perhaps the London group will want to find us when you get there?

  • Can we have a time of meet at Bletchley?

  • The London Ride is planned to arrive by midday at the latest, though will likely be a little earlier.
Skully, I'll look over your route tonight and see what I reckon.

  • two of us from cambridge will be doing this route (not through bletchley then)

my nnumbah is in the private thread if anyone will need it.

See ya at de STOOONEEENGE, probably will come down and say hi

  • well the weather seems to be set fair for the weekend

do we have any numbers for a fixed group starting from londons famous london ?
i haven't seen anything from dazzler and can't remember what time they were planning to set off

shall we provisionally say 6.30 - 7 pm at speakers corner ? and head off from there out along the A30 trying to get onto smaller roads further out

  • me and my mate bobby are in for fixed from london.
i'd be up for meeting about half 6 for a head off round 7 from speakers corner.
would leave plenty of time to get down there with breaks for the legs.
rolling speed wouldn't have to be to great either.
    looking forward to it.

  • cool well thats three
on the similar threads item below there is a 2008 post which left (albeit geared) at 8.30 from marble arch i reckon we'd need an extra 1-1.5 hrs to do it fixed

i'll be bringing tyre levers pump and puncture repair kit and rudimentary tools crank / track nut spanner and lockring tool / chainwhip

anyone else planning on bringing tools maybe we could share and carry less each

  • Yep, im in for sure.

Dicki - looks like you're bringing the tools!! Not sure if we'd need much else short of the kitchen sink?

So the FIXED list from Speakers Corner to the Henge is

    1. Dicki
    2. Skive
    3. BobbyDazzler
  • lights
last time hippy had some mega powerful spot lights on his bike lit up the road they did
anyone sporting dinoets ? (sp. ) i've got a head torch and i'm gonna have to sort our some knogs for the ride
pitch black with no lights could be a nightmare

  • hey dazzler you're going to do it fixed .....nice
is there a geared group or will we merge and ride together ?

  • If you're doing that, you may as well come out of South Tidworth and through Bulford Camp to Amesbury.

Past Carter Baracks, through Lark Hill, then down to Airmans Cross. That is where you get in.

  • two of us from cambridge will be doing this route (not through bletchley then)

Eddie, give or take some umming and arring about detail around Didcot/Newbury, this is exactly the route I'm trying to figure out. So, cheers.

We can maybe hook up around Leighton Buzzard/Aylesbury, depending on what time you're planning on going through there ... we're I think planning on leaving MK area around 4pm.

Though having said all that, I hear from shootthebreeze you're a bit fast. So maybe we'll just expect you to catch up with us somewhere along the way...

re: phones, ditto, I am in the number thread too.

  • I'm doing it on gears! We'll be doing the traditional ride from Speakers Corner at 8:30. Dicki pm me your mobile and we'll see if we can hook up en route..

sweet, we don't want to be waiting for anyone so we're taking the shortest route and gonna keep our own pace.
We may be passing Didcot as late as 9pm

Give me a ring at some point.

    peace

  • Looking good weatherwise. 10-13mph headwind declining overnight with an expected temperature of 10oC and clear skies. May feel a bit on the cool side but should be pretty good for riding.

  • well the day is here
probably a bit late for a list but ....

    for the fixed group

*6.30 SPEAKERS CORNER leave at 7pm at the very latest*

    1. Dicki
  • I'm hoping to make the fixed gear 6.30 Speakers Corner departure with a friend.

  • *6.30 SPEAKERS CORNER leave at 7pm at the very latest*

    1. Dicki
    2. steve aka skive
    3. bobby dazzler

really looking forward to it. should be good weather.

  • Wind 14mph declining to around 6 by the time we arrive. starting temp 18oC, finishing at 10oC.
Clear skies and a good visibility for the sunrise.
Fixed crew, might be good to take numbers and text progress so we know if we're going to overtake you or so we can find you at the end. Mines on the last page of the numbers thread

  • last minute bump

tika where are you ? are you coming ?

  • well done to everyone who made it down to the stones.
fixed crew dominated the pace with a very respectful 6 and a half hours of cycling, getting to the stones for half 2.
    good work guys.
    next year...???

will chuck up pictures when i get them off the camera
