I think if that's the case then we'll all just end up on BMXs. The only thing tying us to 700c is the fixed thing. People are already starting to try 26" inch wheels and in some cases 24". If we got to freewheel now then it would be silly not to have a street/jump mtb rather than a 700c track bike. It would definitely make hopping a lot harder on a freewheel with 700c wheels.
