Wasn't acupuncture shown to have an affect, more than mere placebo, but that the placement of needles was all but irrelevant. Which sort of throws a spanner in the works of the electrical pathways explanation. Or a needle, if you will. Except that the needle could be thrown anywhere, and still affect the works.
Oh, and +1 for loratadine.
I can understand that... I throw needles transdermally into people myself on occasion, so that people get a natural high from Beta-Endorphins.
Must admit, I've not looked into having Acupucture at all, the very thought squicks me.
I do know Acupressure works for me though... having used that myself for the relief of back-pain.
