I got into an argument with the guy behind the ticket desk because i was going to see my son's school play in Lockerbie...i'd ridden down to Euston...only to be told i couldn't get my bike on the train because it was full...i explained how i'd never had trouble before and how i'd ridden there....i said so is there any way i can get my bike on the train...he said the only way was a different kind of ticket..."how much is that?"...."£240"...."That's fucking ridiculous....so you're telling me that if i pay more money then there's suddenly space?....i don't believe the train is full"...he took a strop....got up...walked over to the filing cabinet behind him...grabbed it, and started kicking it repeatedly...at which point a lady came and told me the same thing...there's no space cos there's already 3 bikes booked on.
I had to ride home...leave my bike...and go back on foot.
Richard Branson can kiss my ass when it comes to bikes on his trains!
I've had so many problems with them.
Sorry to hear it. It is a silly rule to cap it especially if you end up dealing with a jobs worth cunt. I can only talk about my experiences on the lines I've been on though and I can't say I've had a negative experience between Ipswich and London which is the route people have mentioned above.
