Wanted: Bike/frame/bits!

Posted on
  • New to fixed so after a 'starter' bike... one I can spec up if necessary as time and funds allow. I'm not massively knowledgeable on all the tech (yet) but am after either a complete bike (not off the shelf please) or a frame/wheel set etc with a little guidance to what will work. I'm 5'11 so guess something around the 58 mark?

    Any hints etc welcome...

Oh and looking to spend around £200/£250 ish...

    Thanks

  • I've got a Raleigh (with 531 tubing, which is the good stuff!) with a 61cm frame. It may be a litte on the large side but you're welcome to try it. It's set up with a load of bits from a Charge Plug, which are pretty tough and last a long time. These include the rear wheel, with sealed hub, the bars, front brake, sugino messenger 165 cranks, pedals etc. The rest of it is pretty much standard but all running well.

here are a couple of pics (sorry about the poor quality)

I'm only asking £200 for it. Anything else you want to know just ask.

  • I'd buy that for now, I'm six one n ride a 62 ctt with a decent amount of seat tube, you'll be hard pushed to build for cheaper and you can always upgrade the frame with one that fits better in the future.

  • thanks for the offer... though definately too large for me I'm afraid.

    many thanks anyway...

  • would a Spesh Langster be an option?

    2007 (brown), 56cm.

Stock (not as pictured) with a couple of changes - bull bars or trackbars (buyers choice), cross top lever / tt lever (again buyers choice) and a tiagra front caliper. new cane creek is2 cartridge headset in lieu of the rubbish they send it out with. newish bb and chain too.

I swapped the wheels out early so not too much use on them, very little use since a Cavendish hub service and retrue.

bad points, some might say "it's a langster..." a few scratches and scrapes, all straight and true though. I have in my cack handed way stripped the first thread or two on one of the crank arms. Not a problem, just requires a little finesse.

    £200ono.

pics as I have it at the moment in my album here, though as pictured it's got stuff on it (forks, cranks, saddle) that I won't be selling.

  • Still not quite what I was looking for.. but thanks all the same

  • i might have something, what you looking for?

  • it's prob not what he's looking for.

  • i guess, not i mean a langster and and sweet 531 build is pretty what i would have wanted so.. .

  • Unipak

  • ha... all good with the 531 accept too big. spags recent sell was pretty much perfect accept too small.

    any more offers?

    not unipak.

  • buy the 531 and get a new frame

  • /\do that/!

  • I'm after something simlar to the 531, but a bit smaller. I'm 5'7" so looking for something about 54cm, 21" ? (new to all this bike speak jargon)
Or this bike with some platform shoes thrown in. anyone got anything that might work?

  • bump

  • i'll happily chuck a pair of platform shoes in!

  • I have a steel beater frame, about 57/58cm that im looking to sell if your interested, decent deep horizontal dropouts with loads of room to sort chain tension, only looking to make back what i paid for my current frame so 70 squids if your interested. will try and sort tophos later tonight.

  • yup photos welcome... any more?

  • bump

  • New week... any other bits/thoughts/offers... Wheel sets etc?

    Thanks
