I have been running a Shamal 16-spoke on the front for quite some time...
Even had a couple of spokes bent in the wheel after a couple of minor accidents, one being driven into by a ladys bicycle, the spoke hit a wheelnut.. and after driving with a loose spoke for about a month I got hit by a car, that bent another spoke..
With two loose spokes the wheel got a bit out of true, so I took the spokes out and straightned them up, and trued the wheel, and I still use it... I'm 15.5 stone..
The Shamal has a nice sturdy rim though..
I'm going to build up 24 spoke wheels using Milliard-hubs that I got really cheap, and Mavix CXP14's I got pretty cheap as well... I'm guessing they'll be okay.
