The Mayor and TfL have a whole team watching casualties all the time. It may not seem so watching this list but it is actually getting better out there. Casualties are down a little on last year while number of cyclists are up 7%. In fact there seems to be a general rule, the more cyclists there are the safer it gets for everyone. http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=5225
From TFL press release 28th May 2009
* Cycle journeys on London's major roads have increased by 107 per cent since TfL was created in 2000, with an estimated 545,000 cycle journeys being made everyday across London * The Mayor and TfL want to increase cycling by 400 per cent by 2025 (compared to 2000) * The number of cyclists killed or seriously injured on London's roads has fallen by 21 per cent compared with the Government's baseline figures from the mid to late 1990s

nice one charlie.
useful information.
there seems to be a lot of people on this forum that are concerned about road safety for cyclists etc. and some of them may be interested in campaigning / doing something / helping out at lcc.
maybe lcc could give some thought to how to get them involved ?
(either on an ongoing basis or some one offs or a combination).

The best route in is to contact either the LCC office and offer to volunteer, or contact your local group to see what they're up to. If anyone has any specific questions about how they'd like to be involved, PM me--I can point you in the right direction.

this is my main worry about moving to the big city however this is quite reassuring to read, dont have a problem skipping through traffic on my BMX but the big bike is a different story.

Was in the Charles Lamb in Islington tonight and he came in during the thunderstorm, presumably hiding from the rain.
Sorry that should probably have been in spotted.

They don't take place any more, but there are plenty of other ways of helping the office.

Would anyone who has been riding in London for a while care to offer an opinion on whether the introduction of the Congestion Zone caused most of that decrease though.

doesnt really make any difference i find.. there are just as many cars to be honest.. i live just on the edge of it in fulham and am nearly killed on a daily basis it seams!!
Do you think anyone actually informs Boris of these seemingly more frequent and weekly collisions, or do you think he is blissfully unaware in his own little world?
