i believe some like to call them 'suicide levers', probably best to stay clear

They're commonly referred to as extension levers or "suicide levers". You should be able to pick some up pretty easy off most 70's/80's commute racers. The cross piece is fairly inefficient as compared to the common drop part.
I'd wager someone on here would sell you one.

THey are often called 'suicide levers'.
Made by Weinmann and other companies.
You can quite easily get them free up to a MAXimum of £10 IMO reckon for a very decent pair.
Search the classifieds - someone was selling these in the last few weeks. -

er. what they said.

I had some, they were scary but allowed braking from the flats. Better to use cross-interupters nowadays.

Cool, I'll keep an eye out for some cross interrupters maybe, if they'll be a bit more effective. Still might try suicides if I see them on the very cheap. Cheers for the advice.
Not sure how effective they are but would be interested to try out a pair of these, unfortunately I don't know what they're called and can't find any info online. Would be useful if anyone knows where I can get a set or has any info on this type of lever.
