At least 15K (probably closer to 20k) on a frame squeezed in dropouts.

I've got a Campag track axle, see http://www.londonfgss.com/thread23066.html
Don't know if it's any longer than the one you've already got...

Do you know that that would work with this Ambrosio hub?
I bought an alternative rear wheel (which I may return) by some company called Mach1, and the shop insists that the axle can be replaced. But the wheel is so poor in comparison to the Ambrosio.

I don't know. I doubt that the thread is different but just as important is to check the length of yours - if yours is the same length or longer than 157mm mine is no good to you (if I understand your problem correctly).

you're from dublin aren't you? i don't know if you know dennis but he's moving away and selling a load of stuff including wheels for 50. they're black hubs on unmachined black rigida rims (if they're the same ones he had before). just take a look on gumtree and you'll get his number, he has loads of ads on there now
EDIT: he has axles too

Dont try to bend carbon!
I don't think that campagnolo axle would fit would it? I could be wrong.
But the hubs that you have are a bit of a generic part made by lots of people so you may be able to find one but it would be easyer to sell yours and get some that fit -

It's the generic Formula/System Ex hub.
There is a longer axle available for it, can't remember where from. It's come up before, so a search may reveal the answer.
Try SJS (they offer an own-brand version of this hub).
I'm fairly sure it's related to the Surly hub, which is available in wider spacings.

I had a longer axle made a while back, worked great. The company I had make it for me won't run off any more though.
Sheldon also sells them on his website, and I'm sure they'll ship to the UK.

potlatch if you want to buy some of these axles, i need one too so could combine for cheaper postage?

Shorten the spindle even more.
The spindle ends should not protrude outside the fork ends / dropouts. Like a road bike wheel with quick release.Cut M6 thread into both ends of the spindle.
Fix the wheel with M6 bolts and washers. In this way you can also use road wheels on a track bike or fixie.
Cheap, easy and good method.

Yeah you can definitely get one, my axle is long enough for 130mm spacing.

My bike shop said they were getting some in. and I asked for them to fit. But when they came in, the box labelled "extra long" (oo er) had shorter ones in
I'm running 17mm nuts without washers righ now on my newly built coppi conversion.. not very confident!
I will ask them tomorrow where they tried to get them from and post up on here.

yeah just a cheap chromo axle from a lbs, 135mm mtb spacing, should slot in with some spacers
I recently bought an Ambrosio rear track wheel. I'm converting a carbon frame with a 126mm rear dropout and the axle is just to short to get the built-in nut/washer without pinching the frame.
Mr. Bike Shop says pinching the frame is a bad idea, and the axle is an odd diameter or something and only made in that length and a replacement can't be found. The hub looks something like this.
Any ideas?
