  • velocity boy Sheldon Brown on the Harris Cyclery site says it's possible to use cross levers without the drop levers, though I couldn't find any examples of this being done or an indication of what should be done with the excess cable. There's no internal cable-end grip on cross levers, and that's the bit that would make me feel good. I flip flop and if I'm riding single-speed my front brake is all I've got. Knowing that even a bumbled install would still stop you is kinda necessary for me (says he who hath bungled several such simple tasks over the years).

I use Cane Creek cross-top levers on all of my bikes - there is no difference that I can see.

  • for bars i use some tiny drops i found with the bike, i want to get a 1 finger break lever rather then the old one i scored off a MTB that some one left in my liveing room... its zip tied to the bars right now cuz the bolt broke.

any segustions on black or silver 1 finger leavers?

  • dirty harry or tektro bmx ones seem popular. strong and cheap too.

  • whats the damage on those

  • Edwards in Camberwell did me a dirty harry for under a fiver.

  • I agree with Momentum. I have some drops but I very barely actually use the drop part of them - I always find myself holding on at the stem. I was thinking of getting some bullhorns, it seems like the right thing for me to do at least as it's so handy when you're pulling up at lights or on hills - plus they're good for skids ;)

Otherwise... cut risers? Nice and simple and you can squeeze through gaps tighter than an oriental virgin.

  • Good answer to 2 year old topic.

Back when VB didn't know how to do html so good.

Get him and his blockquote shenanigans.
