I think facebook may use your hotmail account as well when trying to recruit new members. I keep getting messages saying things like; 'thankyou Jamie, through you, we have managed to recruit 3 of your friends'. Other than my hotmail account being the email address i use to log into facebook, it has no other connection to the book, and i have never sent an invite friends to facebook type email...
