  • My boss went to see it last night, said it was amazing, really wanna see it to, everyone is saying its awesome.

  • How can it not be rubbish?

Saw Star Trek this week, enjoyed it a lot - even tho am not a trekie at all.

^ I really want to see that, I am a big Trekkie fan, heard nothing but good reports.

For all Trekkies...this video is for you. Watch before you see Star Trek.

May I also humbly recommend the documentary entitled Trekkies. Hilarious.

  • Just finishing watching Zeitgeist.

    Hmm...

  • Has anyone seen Angels & Demons that was recently released?

yep. Its ok to watch in the cinema actually, rather enjoyed it.
overall though It's 6/10 for effort.

  • Just finishing watching Zeitgeist.

    Hmm...

I remeber was a link to watch in the internet, anyone have it?

  • Its available on google videos

  • Just watched the Third Man; class. But long. One and three quarter hours of zither music is just about enough for me.

  • Zeitgeist, The Movie - Remastered / Final Edition

A friend and I watched it at roughly the same time - we both came away with the conclusion that we needed to check the references and make sure what was said is evidenced, but at the same time it was pretty eye-opening.

I'm not into religion or theology, but the first part definitely warrants looking into in further detail. I'd be really interested in both Tynan and a religious type's take on that.

  • star trek at the imax this week

    terminator next week

    Moon sometime soon

    and new cameron this year.

might be a good year for sci fi films

  • Never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but I saw Star Trek last night and it was AMAZING! A pretty much perfect blockbuster film. I can't get over how good it was, I was sceptical when Bradshaw (very critical Grauniad film reviewer) gave it 5 stars, but it certainly deserves it.

And I've always said Star Trek is shit. Hat - eaten.

    Saw it Sunday...
    +1 to that.

Badder Meinhoff... good, but be warned, the subtitles on the DVD are miniscule.

  • YouTube - The Warriors (1979) - complete opening credits

Don't know why I came across this but its been a looong time since I last saw it - and there is a whole lot of mincing going on. The mime-artist gang are my favourites, they don't fuck you up, they just *look *like they're fucking you up.

I don't know the movie, but I will take a look when I get the chance (can I watch your link, is that the whole movie ?). My atheism is rooted in theological noncognitivism (*i*gnosticism not *a*gnosticism ) so movies purporting to undermine the Christian god hypothesis look and sound the same to me as movies purporting to undermine fairies or the miasma theory of disease or the phlogiston theory of oxidation.

But . . . from what I can see (Google) this movie looks at Christianity's roots (?)

  • BIKECAR!
its given me ideas, which is never a good thing.

  • But . . . from what I can see (Google) this movie looks at Christianity's roots (?)

It says some fairly uncontroversial stuff about how Christianity absorbed pre-Christian philosophies (maybe a bit more dramatic in America, where they think that the KJV bible is literally true), some interesting things about currency and some tediously bonkers things about 9/11 being an inside jobs, Jews and lizards and the CIA, etc, etc. It's also extremely long.

Great film. Some of the yoot around my way have sprayed the Warriors tag on most of the nearby walls. I'm hoping they dress like them, too.

Long? It's just under 2hrs isn't it? Although it looks like you saw the extended version with the lizards and the purple tracksuits - I didn't get those...

But yes - the main premise of the first part of the film is that Christianity, like almost all other religions, co-opted elements of beliefs linked to astronomical/astrological phenomena.

Interesting, but I do have to check the references and the background evidence - it could be that there are countless other theories, each one just as appealing in isolation, but not standing up to closer scrutiny.

  • I'm off to see Coraline and State of Play today. Looking forward to them.

  • Watched Fermat's Room last night. Excellent thriller. About maths. Yes you heard me right. Maths.

  • Primer is good. It's about time travel, but not in an 88mph way.

    ...

Just thought - is there a secret neo-nazi subtext to BTTF?

  • ...and Kill Bill?

  • like some of you on the previous page, I too was v. impressed with the Star Trek movie, which I went to see on Monday...it was a great blockbuster...in fact, I enjoyed it so much that I just dropped £50 for season one of the original series on blu-ray...also picked up The Wrestler, Waltz With Bashir, Sin City and Above the Law...God I love blu-ray

  • Problem I had with Star Trek was the shitty lighting in the evil ship. I mean it looked like it was straight off of Stargate or Andromeda. Also, WHY and HOW could he break the corvette.. :(
