  • Well, that was fun ;-)

  • yep
Glad I rode back from Shoredtich. Was important to get on the bike afterwards
I am fucked now. Literally, I cannot walk

  • heal up soon, all of you!

  • was there a crash?

  • Big Big crash..10 down.Quiet a few injurys. One VCL girl taken away in an ambulance....Hope she is OK. Hows everyone else feeling??? Mike and Guy ,you two look like you are going to be SORE .

  • That sounds bad. Kind of glad I missed it last night now. I was dog tired yesterday though so though it wise to sit out.

I hope whoever was involved in the crash is okay and that everyone heals quickly.

  • sh*t.

heal up chaps and chapesses, hope you're not too battered and bruised, and get back on the track as soon as you feel up to it.

As guy said to me on my first day back on, find a nice steady wheel to follow to build up your confidence, it really helps and after a session i felt fine about riding close to others.

non adhesive dressing FTW as well, think they were called myoplar, and they really helped keep comfortable.

  • Cheers guys.

Yes I am very sore now. Can't put any weight on my right leg. Didn't get much sleep :(
I hope it doesn't effect the way I ride on the track. I hope to be back maybe the weekend after this. I remember what happened now.

I was the 4th rider. The front person swung right up the track and slowed down, at exactly the same time, the second rider did the same thing, as he was looking back though he didn't realise what the guy in front had done. So he swerved back down the track straight into the path of Miles who whose wheel I was on. Miles tried to swerve and lost control, hit the deck. I smashed into him at 33mph according to Guy! Then it was carnage

Still, nothing broken. I hope Byrony is ok. She looked very distressed

  • I was going to put up a rider down thread, but soon realised it would be in very poor taste.
Byrony was so pale. It was the sound of cracking carbon that I remember.
Dont know how I escaped, it felt like the end of starwars in my x-wing, flying through the gaps, but trying to stay as straight as poss.
Mike and Guy, get down the doctors for a supply of drugs. Will help the sleep. Matt and Stelle came off too, think Stelle rode over someone then went over her bars.
Hope you all get back there soon.

  • Here we go.
I bought myself a nice bottle of Glenlivet on the way home as medicine. few glasses helped take the edge off things when I got home

  • Ouch. Both sides too?! Sleep will be difficult for a while I'm afraid, Mike.

    Heal fast.

  • hope you guys heal up quickly. pain killers help for first few days, and for grazes, try melolin dressing. I've found them really good for road rashes.
it was a pretty bad crash, though the second crash which took more people down was probably avoidable. do not rubber neck when there's a crash, just concentrate on where you are going!
you will crash at some point when you race track, but don't let that put you off.

  • Just checked the BCF site, bronze membership does only cover third party insurance only, Guy was right.
Nice pics Mike! nice diffused light/soft focus. Very classy!

  • lol the wife took those.
What does Silver membership cover then. My tub was ruined. I hope those dents on the seatstays are not serious. They don't look it
I am targetting next Sunday as the comeback training session. Ironicaly, cycling is far easier than walking right now due to it being non-load bearing. Can't put weight on my right leg, but turning it is not too bad.

  • BC insurance details;

I don't think you can claim for equipment damaged in racing crashes but I may be wrong.

  • you won't be covered for equipment damages unless you have a bike insurance that covers race accidents.

I noticed this after a bus hit me a few years ago. Couldnt walk or lift anything pain free for weeks, but could cycle fine. I'm convinced it helps with the healing too.(muscular anyway, maybe not the road rash!)

  • I'm very sore. Wounds have scabbed up nicely, but the grazing round my waist really hurts, it is like shingles. My injuries look in similar places to yours Mike. I have lots of marks on my back too for some reason (people crashing into me?). It could have been much worse and I hope Bryony and everyone else injured is ok.

Saddle a bit ruined and wheels need truing but that's it.

I was behind the Dulwich guy riding the Fuji Track. The guy in front of him pulled up the track and clipped his front wheel which took them both and someone else down, then I ploughed into them as they were on the floor. Then I remember sliding down the track covering my head.

  • sounds like a nasty case of half wheeling - having a front wheel overlapping the person in front's back wheel. we all do it at times but it can have consequences.

hope everyone's injuries heal up fast, not sure if JC's rear wheel will so easily recover!

  • Bryony broke her collarbone and cracked an elbow apparently. http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/100609-whitten-timber-track-league

  • Shit. I hope she gets better soon

  • Me too. Heal fast Bryony.

How was sleeping last night, Mike?

  • I consumed loads of whiskey. That helped. Back on the bike this morning. I really want to get back on the track asap. See how I feel on Sunday

  • Shit!?! Just heard about this from Guy, hope all you guys are OK... Sounds well nasty, heal fast peoples... :[
