Well, not quite a freesytler, but here's my new whip:
Surprised at how well it handles the hills round here.

Hello, I've found this nice bike at an auction site for really cheap in size large. The thing is I'm about 6 ft 5" (damn you dutch genes!) and therefore wondering if it'll be way too small for me. Could it fit, or should I continue my quest for a 25 inch frame?
Cheers!

Does anyone know what size seat clamp plugs take? googling tells me the seatpost is 27.0, but measuring the seat tube gives me a 9.5cm circumfrence which means a 3.02 diameter.
Some of you will know the issues I had with seatclamps at Dammits bbq, but it seems a wierd size.
I have a choice of 31.8 or 28.6, 31.8 seems to big though, can anyone confirm my calculations? -
• #556
plug site specs say the seat post is 27.2 and the clamp is 30?
-
• #557
obviously didnt google enough! seems my calculations are correct then!

Thinking about getting a vanilla Charge Plug, and popped into Evans to check sizing. I'm 6ft, but the small seemed about right. The stand-over height of the medium was pretty much non-existent, am I missing something here, as other 6ft'ers are debating whether to go large or medium?
-
• #559
I'm 6 foot and the medium is too small for me, I should have got a large really. They are traditional sized frames, not compact or semi compact like most road/track bikes nowadays, so they are designed to be ridden large, with the seat down low, literally no more than 3 inches of post sticking out of the frame (words straight out of Nick Larsen's mouth). Unless you have unusually short legs for a person of 6 foot, definetly have a look at a medium or even a large before you buy one!

Yep, just put some 23 gator skins on mine without too much difficulty. So much better than the 28s you get with it, wish I'd done it sooner...

i'm 5'7" and small fits me pretty perfectly. there is this apparent short of SO height (just about an inch) but it hasn't caused me any problems so far

Where as I'm 5'8" and the frame is a good few centimeters too large for me. I've got a long body and (comparitively) short arms though. To get a comfy position I end up hunched like a TT'er.

Hey Wragg, if you're 6', then I doubt the small is right. Measure by the top-tube length and how stretched you are on the bike, not the standover, which hardly matters. I'm just about 6' and the Large is perfect for me. They're designed to be ridden big.
Remember that you can shorten the stem on the Large too - I couldn't do this on the medium.

Cheers guys. I think I must have short legs for my hight :) I'll take another look at the medium, as I do like to ride fairly upright, so don't like to be too stretched out.

Think I will be purchasing a plug this week, first foray into fixed riding and I have seen it for £440 online
-
• #566
Man you can get a nicer complete build on here or or 'other auction sites' that will be way lighter and a hell of a lot cheaper.
-
• #567
ive had a plug for 5 weeks, I love it, just about stopped riding my road bikes. Deals with most hills around my way. Great value.

How was the paint on top of the chrome? I was under the impression that painting over chrome doesn't work very well?
Most NJS bikes are fully chromed under their paint.

I've seen it for £399, still thinking of getting one of these.

i got a plug racer very recently, really really like it. it's not amazingly light, but compared to my shit mountain bike it's like riding a damn cloud.

Hi, can I be cheeky and ask where these prices have been seen (£399?)
Unfortunately the search engine on google is not as efficient as the one on londonfgss !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ....

Go up to the first post on this topic.
look at the date of when it was made.
I don't even need to point it out.
-
• #573
Yeah, I realise that 399 is the old price and it costs more now. However people in this thread have reported that they have seen it for 440 then 399 within the last week...
Goat/concreteisland do you have any links if you have already got one in the last week ??
-
• #574
Did you not try Google?
-
• #575
I did use google - but can not find it for 399!
Where did people for it for this price in the last week?
