for what it's worth, because of your liver your right kidney sits lower in the rib cage and is more prone to injury form blunt force to the back. Pack the lock on your left if you're worried about it.
horses for courses of course. I'd ride a cheap, well maintained beater and lose the 9lbs of lock and 10 lbs of paranoia. I'd keep my money in my geared bike.
