also there is only 1 point to make when comparing the two.
Ray Mears survives due to his wealth of knowledge and expertise. It is unnecessary for him to go to the extremes which Grylls has to.
Grylls certainly has a stronger stomach and as an athlete or specimen of man is probably more impressive, however the shock factor of squeezing water from elephant shit etc is done far better on programs such as dirty sanchez (which is also awful). He also takes any excuse to get his shirt off.
