Well what racing are you doing?!
If you are racing TTs then buy a TT bike. If you are road racing then don't buy a TT bike.

I havent 100% decided yet, im more likely to go for TT's and Triathlons this summer.... but i do like a good 60+ mile ride from time to time, which will be more comfortable on a road bike

You can TT on a road bike. You can't road race on a TT bike.
Game over.

Very true, but i did this on my old carbon race bike and could never get the position right

you can't enter a road race on a tt bike.

Surely the sum of the parts on the Planet X must be worth more than a grand. Buy both, strip em, sell em and then buy a decent road race bike.

at these prices you have just helped me to decide on a geared road bike thats going for £300, was gonna start a thread about it but now dont need to!
new (2nd hand) bike for me tommorrow -

steel. not that plastic thing. you know they warp if you lean them up against a radiator.
edit: is that steel or alloy?

Well for the tt bike to be usable in normal(windy) or training circumstances you would need another wheel set adding even more expense.

The Planet X is absolute beauty and the Colnago is beastly ugly.

yes. you then put them in the fridge when you are happy with the splodges.

I wouldn't even consider the TT bike for the practical reasons Hippy said, and frankly, I dont like riding them to begin with. I can't say much else though, because I don't have any experience with Colnagos, let alone that one.
Hi all,
So i really cant decide between the two bikes:
Colnago Lux Dream (Ultegra Spec) @ £850
or
Planet X TT (DA Throughout) @ £1000 (with pair of zipp 404s and front 404 and corima disc)

Both bikes are flawless and 'as new' without a paint chip on them. The Colnago is absolute beauty and the Planet X is beastly ugly.
Im still undecided between a TT or Roadbike, as the distances i like to ride are short i.e. under 50 miles (generally around the 25 mile mark) however ive only owned a road bike.
I plan to keep two bikes, a geared racer and a fixed for weekday use. The bike i buy will be for training and racing only, so does this make the Colnago second favourite?
Any constructive ideas/cristisms by any fellow keen riders/racers on owning a TT bike over a road bike?
Cheers all
