I've done something similar to that ride geared, since my parents live in West Moors. There are a couple of hills that can take it out of you, but nothing that can't be done fixed. The descents (depending on which way round you go) aren't too demanding either.
The B3082 around Badbury Rings/Kingston Lacey is really exposed though, and the ups and downs along that road can take it out of you - make sure you take it in turns to lead on that bit.
Don't find those Dips on the way to badbury rings that much of a problem now, you just gotta keep the power on and not rest on the downhill part of each dip. First time though I was fecking knackered.

Oh yeah, I was thinking today that we should go up to Shaftesbury and back one day. Can go up via Blandford, and back through the lanes. On the way back there is a hill where you look left, right, forward and back and there is nothing higher than you. Awesome. From there it's nearly all a slight downhill to Ferndown. Route looks something like this. What you guys think?
Me and tom went the other way from that random route and ended up by blandford.

Did anyone see they are planning to have officers with speed guns on the promenade to stop cyclists breaking the 10mph speed limit? It said they don't have any power as bikes don't have speedometers but they will lecture cyclists and hand them a leaflet on the dangers of cycling too fast.
Sounds like a complete waste of time, effort and money to me.

Everyone knows that speeding cyclists kill more than speeding drivers. Oh wait... -

I killed 2 pensioners today. Meh
Spotted - 3pm: Guy wearing a black bandana, riding a nice black frame with risers past Lidl in Winton. The momentum of me carrying a full backpack of shopping, another carrier bag and my bike lock (which probably weighs more than all of that together) caused me to zip past you.

We going to Brighton next week, maybe Wednesday?

saw that yeah. have asked collegues for a coordinated response to the schmecho, its typical lazy writing, and gives punters a chance to moan and hang their misperceptions on the actions of a few idiots.
hopefully hit them with some balancing stats about the overwhelming disparity between cycle and vehicle 'accidents'
leaving Southbourne school 0850 weds for brighton ride, company welcome -start carbo loading now....looks like it could be moody weather.... -
• #359
Ah I'm not going to be able to make the Brighton ride :( got to go to the Southampton Uni grad ball and I don't think my gf would be too impressed if I were to turn up in lycra...

luke im carbo loading, sitting indoors eating plate after plate of spaghetti carbonara,
come in visit and see if you can get past me through the doorway,
p.s when do I get to set up the bike--tell you what, you borrow my st4 for a bit?? -
• #364
That bike sounds tasty, shame I can't justify another bike (exclusions apply, see below) atm or the cash.
lucas, is it ok to come get that Marin frame off you tomorrow? I need something to do up here in bath and building it up seems like a good plan. I've been told there is some good off roading to be had around here! Think I'll be going for the cheapest options for it until I have a job though as I think it's gonna be about 500 for all the parts new, and thats with cheapo components (except fork). So i'll be hunting about for second hand parts.
-
• #365
Yeah it fine to come here tomorrow. If you want cheapo kit, it probably best to hunt about my garage with me and there is loads of old mountain bike bits that I will probably not be using. I have a set of rapid fire gears and deore deraillers if you want them for about £15.
BTW I have cleaned the shorter .....

Sold!
Is it still in one piece, or was there more than filth holding it together?
-
• #367
it was all mechanically sound, looks pretty bling like when I stuck it together.
-
• #368
Hmm, I don't like the term 'Stuck' in that sentence. Your Dad wasn't out with his Loctite again was he?
-
• #369
Nah, no threaded BB shells. Most of the orbit's drive chain is held together with araldite and elbow greese.
-
• #370
fuck me, you cleaned a bike....work harder. its obviously because you now have time to play with your mickey.
on a serious matter-- that bike, its like an itch now that I gotta scratch, just looked at it again through the winder, its a k28 alloy frame, think it might be worth a few quid--dont know what the tubing composition is though...? advice?
-
• #371
a little google came up with this.
http://www.rickgreencycles.co.uk/sale_items.htm
It is £500 for the frameset. If it is full ultegra and that is £600 on its own.
-
• #372
Mmm, only the forks are steel? Not worth as much as if it was full Columbus. Might still be good though.
-
• #373
It is a full bike mate with ultegra for £300, when the bike should be priced nearer a grade. I am pretty sure it is a 2006/2007 bike and from J's description it is pretty much brand new. Bike should be being sold for much much more IMO.
