@ asm
Wrists have now been replaced with rubber shock-absorbing bungs... and the seat's a wee bit flatter.

Holdsworth Triath Elan - with red brush painted areas courtesy of the original owner.
New recently refurbished Holdsworth - Paintjob is Cobalt blue from armourtex, and waterslide transfers from H Lloyd Cycles.
Im still in need of a new crankset though, as the current cheapo ones - Pake - are not great quality, but do the job.

Nearly there- I'm mulling over crank/chain ring options; something nicer than a Messenger for sure. Possibly Miche Advanced, or Record Pista if I come across one of these amazing jumble bargains...
very nice. welcome to the club!

that's a great build! I thought it was a Hetchins from the small preview picture due to the rear triangle.
There's an all-black Miche Advanced crank in Condor (as well as an all-sliver one too), if you're not keen on the silver/black colour of the original Advanced.

thanks all
@ rocksteady - I've taken to carrying 20ft mains cable, plug one end, bare end the other and a sign "look but don't touch" ;o)
@ ed - a Hetchins? I wish... thanks for the heads up- might try and pop in Condor wednesday and take a look. I think full black is the way to go.

Did you paint the blue?
No acctually, this is a 1962 harry quinn and it has its original paint job, i know this as i bought it from the original owner who bought it new in 1962 and raced it for a couple of years before giving up track and hanging the frame up in his shed for 40 years before deciding to sell. Apart from the blue on the back of the frame, all the lugwork is also picked out in blue.

nice polishing, you will have tape on the bars no?
tyres- schwalbe marathon plus come in 25 and so do panaracer ribmo's which are both very good.
Not so sure about the RiBMo tyres had one that lasted 3 weeks and another that almost made it to the end of 2 weeks.

That Quinn is pretty damn sweet, only thing I'd change is the bars to drops but that's just personal preference.
How are you finding those bars? Was tempted to pick some up and give them a go.

Thanks again, i have also thought about getting some steel nitto b123's and a lovely shiney jaguar track stem, i might get some drops and a stem and then switch back and forth, the brake lever has a hinge so it would be easy to switch without removing the bar tape.
The bullhorns are acctually really good, great for pulling on when going up hill and for speeding away from traffic! i really feel my arms after cycling, not from discomfort (they are really comfortable) but from constantly pulling on them, i'm a pretty agressive rider i guess... not that i hit anyone when cycling :)

Thanks for the comment and for the link, had'nt seen that brochure before, really interesting. What was really impressive with my frame was that even though its very old the paintwork is in superb condition, luckily the owner looked after it well.
Good luck with your build and look forward to seeing the pic's.

Is this a real Carlton badge as i can only seem to find pictures of Carltons with colour badges and this is just metal, clearly..
That saddle angle must surely rape your wrists to shit!
