Dear Blue
Eyes peeled.
I will probably take the beer and ring side seats, rather than the other treats on offer, should I be fortunate enough to counsel the young unfortunate, whose problematic upbringing forced him inevitably into a life of crime.
Good luck with the search. Can you post a picture; really does help in spotting the offender.

Cheers Clefty,
RE: locks - an ABUS d-lock £30, and fairly solid chain.
The police told me that other bikes were stolen last night. Apparently the guy's angle-grind the bikes free, load them into a van, and after a while these things end up across The Channel.
p.s. The security firm who ran the CCTV camera looking right at where the bike was stolen from were utter wankers (apart from one guys who was actually ok) and said that it wasn't their problem.

why don't you talk to the manager of that building? surely getting through the manager should get him to demand the video from the security firm.

That blows massive goats. Sorry to hear about another theft. I will be out scoping Brick Lane for my stolen Filmore myself at some point tomorrow, so will keep eyes peeled for yours too.
+1 to above comments about CCTV. Those fuckers

Surely the CCTV footage is evidence and withholding it is not a great legal position to be in?
Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Could anyone spotting a suspect bike at Brick Lane take a snap, ideally with the seller in the shot. I know it'll be too late to reunite bikes with owners but, with enough evidence, surely pressure could be applied to Police to take action.

The PS firm are not allowed to just give you videos willy-nilly, if the video is of a public space (which I imagine it is) and members of the public are on the video then it is subject to Data Protection laws. Only the Police can request a copy of the footage and they need demonstrable reason for doing so. Maybe they were unable or unwilling to explain this to you in a reasonable fashion or are genuinely just wankers but they are right unfortunately, it's not their problem.

Re: Above
What the Police instructed me to do was ask for confirmation that the incident was 'captured' on CCTV, and whether or not the perpetrator's face could be seen. I didn't need to see any of the footage, only ask the security firm to confirm whether or not it was worth the police following it up.
I can see, from the point of view of the Police, why that would be immensely useful, however it did place me in a bit of a catch 22 - the security firm wanted police involvement before accessing the CCTV, and the police would only get involved if the incident was confirmed 'captured' on CCTV!
My main frustration lies with the security firm on this one, two chubby chaps, sat on their arses, giving the big "We're sorry, we'd like to help, we just, er, can't.....". They did offer to "look over the CCTV" but when I suggested it might be useful that they took some of my details, just in case something did come up, they claimed that "that wouldn't really be necessary".
Hmmmm.... Vigilante Rampage anyone?!?

Oxford Blue, I'm "chubby" (in fact, huge), and I work in the security industry.
You're obviously concerned about your bike. I understand that. I had a Klien nicked from me a while back, and I had it locked with 3 (cheap) U-locks. I have since learnt from that harsh lesson.
I suggest that instead of moaning about fat people doing the job they are paid to do, maybe find another way of assisting yourself in this matter?
I would have spoken to the guys in question on your behalf, but being fat, and observing your comments, I shall hope that you are succesful no matter how you recover your bike.

Sorry GA2G, really didn't mean to cause offence, I don't have anything against having some good 'executive muscle', i'm cultivating a rather good layer myself!
As I said earlier, one of the SP guy's walking around the area was actually really nice and suggested coming back on Monday to speak to the manager (I get the impression he wasn't too impressed with the attitude of his colleagues) - so that's the next step!

I would have suggested contacting the Head of Facilities directly, and explaining your predicament. He would have passed on the instruction to review the tape/digital disk. All depends if you can appeal to nicer side.
The Head of Facilities gives orders to the Security Manager, and it all filters down.

That's complete bollix if a copper's told you that. You have reported a crime, you have identified a possible location of CCTV evidence, for them to fob you off is deplorable. Get in touch with plod and let them know you want the CCTV examining, and a valid reply as to why they can't do anything.

Will do, cheers for everyone's help, it's really appreciated. I know I don't really have a snowballs chance in hell of recovering my bike, but I have to try! I feel really down about having to get the bus tomorrow.....
Guys and Gals,
Had my really nice, highly invested in, very special to me, fixie stolen last night from outside Bunker in Covent Garden last night.
Purple Aende Lo-pro frame
Charge half-drop handlebars (you know, the kinda moustachey like ones)
Black wheels (can 't remember the make) with black Halo courier tires
...and a really nicely worn in black Brookes saddle.
If anyone catches a whiff of is anywhere, please please please let me know, any information leading to the recovery my pride and joy will be adequately rewarded with money/alcohol/sexual favours, oh and of course, ringside seats to watching me beat the living piss out of the offender.
