Thanks for your input spagettihoops and trailstar, it's very reassuring what you've both said about the Sugino 103 BB working fine with Sugino RD cranks and Goldtec hubs
which seems to suggest that the Sugino 103 BB gives a 42mm chainline, whereas the Goldtec hubs give a 45mm chainline. The consensus from the thread seems to be that a 107mm BB (as given by the Shimano UN53/54 for example) would be best to go with the Goldtecs. So, I'm not sure who's right, or maybe everyone is 'right' - a 107mm BB will give a 'perfect' chainline but the Sugino 103mm BB is damn close and will give a 'near-perfect' chainline. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much...
