Anyway. The solution to pain while riding 120 miles on a fixed (with a bad back to top things off) likely isn't cramming bar ends all over the place. I'd start with shit like drop bars, gears and brakes. But what do I know?
Firstly nothing is crammed...i've been riding all my life so i know exactly what works for me regarding bars...if you'd read my original post you'll see i used the same setup for commuting a long time ago.
The central bar ends do exactly the same job as tri-bar extensions...meaning they put you in a lower tuck with your elbows in...this position is great for cutting through the wind.
The normal grip section is just that...a normal grip section.
The bar ends on the end are the comfiest around for cruising and climbing.
All of this combines to give you multiple hand positions for riding distance, which is exactly what you want.
I've used drops for years on cyclocross, road, 29er, and fixed...however...for this particular FIXED ride, they won't help my back.
The reason i'm not using gears is because i'm doing it fixed...same as last time.
The reason i'm doing it brakeless is because all my track bikes are brakeless.
I wasn't complaining about being either fixed, or brakeless, or having a back problem...i was pointing out how i plan to help my situation by changing my set up.
Maybe you should spend some more time riding your bike over distance and these kind of things might be easier for you to comprehend?
