methinks jersey needs to read more of the whole forum, get an idea of who he is actually talking about (see his other posts elsewhere) before he starts making derogatory comments. I don't know scott personally but I have read his posts throughout the site from time to time and know, albeit not in depth, the reason behind this build and bag and therefore completely understand it. If I didn't know anything, see: Jersey, I would be a little confused but still wouldn't do what Jersey has done for fear of looking like a dick.

That doggy rucsac is fucking hilarious. Give jersey a break just for bringing us that.
@Scott yeah some well-arranged compression straps sounds promising for a saddlebag - and give stability by looping around the seatpost, or seat stays, or both perhaps?
Gonna probably be a roll down design too...makes it easier to keep it stable when you add or remove stuff from inside...roll down till it's tight.

Is the bag not too wide scot? I tried a frame bag before (a narrower one) and both legs hit it on every pedal stroke, I took it off after 1 ride. Have you ridden it?

no but hes probably won an egg and spoon race at some point in his life
beat that Mr.I ride 120 miles on a brakeless fixed with a fucked up back

Anyway. The solution to pain while riding 120 miles on a fixed (with a bad back to top things off) likely isn't cramming bar ends all over the place. I'd start with shit like drop bars, gears and brakes. But what do I know?
Don't take me seriously here. Ride what ever makes you happy.
Or take me seriously. I don't care.

drop bars, *now that is *a good suggestion

I'm well up for testing one of your saddle bags, most on the market at the moment look pretty ugly.

Firstly nothing is crammed...i've been riding all my life so i know exactly what works for me regarding bars...if you'd read my original post you'll see i used the same setup for commuting a long time ago.
The central bar ends do exactly the same job as tri-bar extensions...meaning they put you in a lower tuck with your elbows in...this position is great for cutting through the wind.
The normal grip section is just that...a normal grip section.
The bar ends on the end are the comfiest around for cruising and climbing.
All of this combines to give you multiple hand positions for riding distance, which is exactly what you want.I've used drops for years on cyclocross, road, 29er, and fixed...however...for this particular FIXED ride, they won't help my back.
The reason i'm not using gears is because i'm doing it fixed...same as last time.
The reason i'm doing it brakeless is because all my track bikes are brakeless.
I wasn't complaining about being either fixed, or brakeless, or having a back problem...i was pointing out how i plan to help my situation by changing my set up.Maybe you should spend some more time riding your bike over distance and these kind of things might be easier for you to comprehend?

I just made the second prototype today....it's now an inch narrower at the rear and tapers out towards the front away from your legs.
I've also taken some off the bottom to clear the chainring...and reinforced the bottom sides.
I added a strip of velcro along the sides at the top near the front to allow the planned top mount bag to attach to it and be more stable...pics to follow. -

Oh yeah...and i have legs like pipe cleaners :)

Looks nice.sure homes, think I might need to get some more though, Jersey seems to be putting up quite a fight; it could take a while

Cool, I'll put some more on. Salt or Sweet?

Well as your legs block a large part of the main triangle whilst riding it shouldn't be a problem...it's certainly nothing like riding with deep rims or discs.
Besides...over 120 miles i'm not planning on riding flat out....i'm even having some silly thoughts about riding back too :)

you guys are very very serious people. lighten up. I know it's a cold tough world out there, but it can still be warm and cozy in here.
scott not scott, maybe you sould reconsider. here's an editorial on the matter.

Why would i even read an article called 'Hipster road riding'....I'm assuming you're pretty young Jersey? At 34 i couldn't give a fuck about what's considered hip...and i think i've ridden enough miles to know what works for me.

Obviously would have been easier to buy some black bartape if I was insisting on having a Regal on the road bike but hey-ho; I like red bartape :)

I'm pretty sure the cat is actually thinking, "wait 'til he leaves that thing lying around, I'm gonna fluff that bastard RIGHT up!" if my cat owning experiences are anything to go by.........
