Put Me Back On My Bike!

  • A mate of mine has planned this slightly nutso 24 hour ride as a fund-raiser for sending bikes to Africa. He not only needs sponsors, he also needs people that are willing to ride 250 miles in 24 hours...this could be you!
Charli, the bloke who is organizing it, is one of the most amazing dudes I've ever met and is very worth helping out.

  • That's an awesome idea.

Unfortunately I'm riding to Cambridge and back earlier in the day so doubt I'll be able to make it but I'll happily put up some sponsor monies.

  • Yeah, I sorta fancy doing the ride, but I'm not too sure yet...

  • I'm reading that book right now. Badly written but great content.

  • Wow, late notice. I'd be up for trying this at some point in the future. It doesn't sound impossible, but I bet you'd feel different as you came back into London after the first 120-mile loop and had to set off again... Tough work.

  • 250 miles is a concept my legs and arse aren't familiar with.

  • Gotta be worth a tenner! that'll cover the chamois cream for a start off. Probably will have done 2 or 300 miles this week by then myself so I'll have a beigel and wish them godspeed and a tailwind.

  • Arse, if I'd known in advance I would have happily joined him. I missed out on my planned 250 mile ride down to Cornwall last week and this could have been a suitable replacement.

Got other plans for the weekend now.

but I bet you'd feel different as you came back into London after the first 120-mile loop and had to set off again...

That's not too bad. It's starting the 3rd 120 mile loop of a ride that's the hard bit. And next month's ride is a little bit longer than that one. :)

  • so you gonna come Nhatt? we're going throught the isle of Mersea on about the 180 mile mark! you rember that? dirt sandwiches.

  • Ah! I was thinking about that trip the other day, would love to re-create it. Can you remember which train stop we went to?

Sadly I don't think I would be able to keep up, a steady 10 mph for 24 hours is a bit out of my class.

  • How did it go then?

Long rides in the rain are fun aren't they?
