Besides, nothing wrong with a Dolan...

i may order a BJ and ride my Dolan.
If you already a functional Dolan, with a nice wheelset, why do you want to order a complete bike?
Why not ride the Dolan, order BJ frameset, then transfer parts from the Dolan when it arrives. This way you can upgrade the BJ bit by bit (putting the old parts back on the dolan). You then end up with two bikes, without loosing any money selling/throwing bits.

that's exactly what I did, when I finish paying for the Bob Jackson, I slowly gather certain part over time while the old Bianchi can be easily swap over to the Bob Jackson.
when the frame arrived, I already have what I need and only need to take a few bit and bob off the Bianchi to the Bob Jackson.

Anyways as far as most people would be concerned a Dolan would be superior to a Plug or Pista so I'd definitley order the BJ and wait it out...

I second your chioce of the Miche groupset too. especially if he already has the hubs.

Honestly mate, waiting is worth it.
secondly the Bianchi of mine is a 57cm, I'm 6'1 and find it a little small for me, so I'm converting it into a town bike, aka "Tarmac Racer" (homage to those path racer).
I'm 6'2 and ride a 57cm Bianchi and it fits me fine. Best bet is to try before you buy.
However, and as noted above, I don't think the Bianchi is worth the cash. Between the two I'd buy a Plug.

Archi, he said he wanted a longer top tube as the 57cm Bianchi is too short at 56cm.

Order the BJ frame and get the cheapest 2nd hand shed you can find to use now. When bits fall off/break on the shed replace them with decent bits you want on the BJ. When the BJ's ready swap them across.
Best of both worlds.

Ed how much deposit did BJ want off you for your frame, rebuilt the Dolan tonight so going to cruise around on that and order a BJ I am going for the Barber shop pole version so it will look good in my shop as well as the track and road.

Whatever you do mate, for God's sake, let someone else finish the build!

@ pistanator, you're very harsh but I have to say your comments have made me chuckle as I have thought the same thing.
@ Kingcutter, don't give up mate, buy the custom frame you want and probably need. Go for the BJ, what's another six months wait? The Dolan will do very well in the meantime. When the BJ does arrive I'm sure you'd get it right with a few 'helpful' comments from the forum along the way. Then when I finally post pictures of my build you and others can have a good laugh at my effort. It's all part of the banter! I don't see you as an off the peg kinda guy:-) -
• #38
@ OP...why off the peg? I'm new here but have been lurking for almost a year. You can get a bike with soo much more character if you go second hand; for the price you are willing to pay.

I have everything else i want it to look old school so i have some nice Campagnolo record hubs,on Nici rims, and a Campagnolo seat post and crank not going with a coloured chain this time. -

Can't be bothered to read everything, but get an older Bianchi Pista frame. I have the 2007 one and it is one of the best frames I have ever ridden (for nippy road fun, not for the track). To list but a few of the frames that it is better than IMHO (That I have owned and ridden), 2 Chas Roberts Track, a Geoff Roberts Track, a Chiocc track, a Bob Jackson track, a Dave Yates track and every other bike I have tried.
Bin all the part though, they are made of chewing gum and toast.

Really Morgan, I just have one bike...
for the moment ;)
defintely not better, but for an OTP wheelset it's decent (at least the one I have were) and it's reasonably light especially since they were 28 holes instead of your usual 36/32 one.
my hubs stripped due to a van hitting the back wheel after a year worth of abusing at 120 miles a weeks (back in 2008) and still remaind true.
