It would not be as strong if you used a stem. But i really like this idea. Im deff. gonna remember this when I decide to start hanging my bikes. Great idea.

because of the forward curve of a criterium or vintage cinelli track bar you would only really need to drill two holes to secure it to a wall. the forward curve will keep the hook portion pointing skyward.

noted - it's a plan, i'll do it / try it one day, and i'll post said results.

Wicked.

Sound like a cool idea. Personally I use skyhooks for everything, come in all sizes and colours. Can't beat 'em.

I did something similar.
I have a tool-shed kind of thing in the basement of the appartment building, it's more of a cage really.
So I just stuck my old drop bars from the outside in, and hung the old frame up. Worked like a charm! You probably mean on the wall though, so it's totally different, I think you have to drill through the bars in order for it to stick hard enough to the wall..

its only gonna stick out about 5 inches from the wall though.the pedals and handlebars might prevent it from getting that close???? maybe mount it on some 2x2 then put the whole thing on the wall

Good idea murtle.
I would do, length of plank, say 1" x 4", two U bolts to bolt bars to plank, then two blocks of wood say 4" x whatever is required deep to keep away from wall. Sand, varnish and polish all wooden bits e.t.c, use blocks to hide bolts e.t.c and it could look slick.

Or find an old knacked frame, cut through top tube and down tube, then mount the whole front of the bike upside down on the wall using a block of wood as the setting/mount?
Then you could use the fork legs to hang your bag, and the drops to hang the frame, and it should be far enough out from the wall to avoid pedals and ting?

or sell/give away the drop bars to someone who needs them and buy a bike hanger or some hooks.

At the offices of cycletraining.co.uk, they have old sets of handlebars bolted to the walls to use as coathooks. I thought that was very cool (but then I'm easily impressed...)
Has anyone done it?
i'm sure it's been done....
maybe mount it to an old stem, screw it into wall...
Just a thought we had.
