I bumped into one of my old-time cycling pals (not seen him for some time) this afternoon outside Condor Cycles. He said after looking at my cream vintage Italian track bike that 'Fixed gears are so gay' I said that 'Gay is the new black', he then decided to ride it down GIR and came back with a broad smile.. never thought I see that from a seasoned 50something roadie.. I think there a little appreciation in all cyclists for the fixed scene in London.. I said 'FG riders are generally free spirited and care about simple things in life and in my dictionary gay means happy' ... i will be riding with him and the fireflies on Saturday (with gears) down to Brighton and back, cos he is a good friend and one of the best alpine cyclists i know, and i love hills.. peace
