  • But they only do the Black. And this is local pickup in London rather than waiting a few days or paying extra shipping.

    Seems pretty good to me?

  • I'd be in for one at £40, what do we do, make a list? Or just turn up and say Kam sent us? :)

  • nah, just send me a pm :-)

It'll be a case of telling me what you want and bringing over the readies to my office in Dalston. Then I will go get 'em.

The guys don't want random people dropping by.

So just let me know which colour and i will check when he's available for me to pick some up. It'll be a case of getting cash to me before i go.

    Cheers

  • The black ones are best cos they're recycled.

  • But will look arse against a white wall.

I'll plant a tree (or two) and have a white one.

Although as Clefty says, that's not a huge discount.

I'd take two for £60, but I think two for £80 is too much for me.

  • Know what you mean Dammit, but 1/2 price is a bit much for most consumer products. As it is, the forming of the piece is only possible through an expensive maunfacturing process. That's the main reason for the higher cost in the first place.

But £60 for 2 would be good :-)

  • What sort of process? Not wishing to knock it btw, just interested.

I'd assumed that they would be cast, possibly then finished to some degree.

  • They are rotation moulded and from what i gather each one takes 45mins to form. They are quite impressive in real life and very neat :-) I like them more having interogated the design and i like the fact that the designer has put faith in his design and done a thorough job in producing a quality product. But hey, i used to be a product designer ;-)

  • Seeing them being made is the kind of thing that appeals to me- I've just done a little reading on rotational moulding.

It would seem that the cost is in the initial tooling for the mould, and of course either the machine or time on someone elses machine.

Neat way of creating an object of that shape.

That aside my personal thought, and looking through the thread above, is that our perception of what such a unit should cost (and therefore what we would happily buy one/two/etc for) and what the pricing actually is set at has clear air between the two points.

I'm sure the designer never intended on a stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap approach that said!

  • yeah if only they were £30 each :-(

Mind you these are the first generation, if they develop a cheaper version with different mass production techniques then these might become collectors items ;-)

  • final call if anyone wants one of these, gonna pick up this week.

Pm if you would like one :-)

  • Met the guy who makes these at the BFF polo yesterday.
    Nice and interesting guy.
    Anyone using one yet?

  • Just saw the pictures, One hell of a ugly bike holder, who the hell would want a green bin stuck on their wall. I'm sure there are more elegant design holders.

  • I have been after one for a while - and as for being ugly, they are about the most inofensive solution i have seen yet

  • I like the raleigh simple wall hook, maybe some simple Ikea hack would be nice too.

VV: Thanks for the wheels! They are mint! still waiting for the frame to arrive though.

  • No probs - the cycloc looks good in the flesh.

They are availible in different colours!!

I am very happy with mine. There are more streamlined hook designs but nothing as neat and elegant as this.

  • Now you're just showing off! :)

(how do you get the top one down?)

  • I don't ride them! It's art innit (ladder...)

  • Nice work! (ahh . . ok)

  • These are still £60? Ooof, that hurts.....
