• building up a bike from scratch is a slow process if you don't really know what you're doing.. you'll find yourself dithering over whether parts are appropriate for ages and really struggling to ensure that everything fits and works together..

i just did this and it took me 3 months to source all the bits from ebay, on here and bike shops, after spending 2 months before that waiting for a frame that i wanted.. i got some of it wrong which meant that i ended up buying 2 seatposts, the wrong cranks for my bottom bracket etc..

a better route would be to buy an OTP, either 2nd hand or new, and then modify it as you go.. you can probably find a 2nd hand plug or binachi pista and can upgrade everything bit by bit.. then, if you have all the bits as you want them then you can swap out the frame for whatever you like..

this way you;'re up and riding straight away and don't get frustrated as the pile of bike bits in the corner of your living room gradually grows.. and it'll mean you can get up and riding straight away

i dunno - just some advice from recent experience..

edit - and you can sell the bits that you take off the OTP e.g. spank £120 on H+sons rims, sell original plug wheels for £50.. that way everything will work out cheaper too
