Which wheels on a budget?

Posted on
  • If I was going to buy new wheels for my fixed build, what should I go for? handbuilt or factory spec?

If handbuilt, which hubs should i get and which rims should i get - considering 150 quid is all I have

If factory wheelset, which one? again - under 150 quid

    Cheers

If they go, just keep an eye on the seller and more will appear. Though I don't think they are available for immediate dispatch and might take a few weeks.

  • Parker International do really cheap hand built wheels. I am sure you could get a pair for 150 quid.

  • gizmond was selling some miche hubs / mavic rims
somethng like that would be fine.

Those cheap Susue hubs are shite though.. threaded mine in a week, teeny tiny lockring.

  • I have some miche hub mavic rim wheels taking up space in my house. I want them gone so will sell them pretty cheap.

I ran a rear for a while. No problems. The guy who runs Byercycles is a proper old school track guy and supplies serious cyclists so I doubt they're crap but he did say to me you get what you pay for when I bought it.
