  • I'll be keeping my eye on you tomorrow at beers....

Its alright, these new meds are sorting all the 'issues' out, I've learnt my lesson.

  • Yes, that size matches Ron Groen.
Could be 1983, because he was also in Gazelle's amateur team. Then it was resprayed later, when he joined the Skala team.
Gazelle frame numbers are hard to match with a calander year. There's no direct link between frame number and year.
They just numbered the BB-shells before the frames were produced. The numbering was simply ascending from 0, 1, 2, ... 328xxxx, ect...
They had some books to write the serial numbers they used on which date, when putting the numbers into the bb-shells.

So you where there at the time! Great information, thank you.

  • Currently working in this baby that I picked up in the Netherlands a couple of weeks ago.
Picture was taken before I started stripping it. Looking forward to take it for a spin though, I'm fond of Gazelle bikes, don't ask me why though.

You got it from Speurders I see. Looks like the team DAF/Cote d' Or paint to me. I am working on the same now. Mine is an 'AB'. What is yours?

  • Stunning Mercian.

Just ordered my Vincitore frame. Can't wait.

A little tip: Forget about it.

Seriously. The wait is so inordinately long that you cannot obsess or think about it.

Learn an instrument. Read War & Peace in the original Russian (after you've learned the language.) Get that PhD you've always wanted.

    Then get excited.

  • Ummmm. What have you done there?
Aerospoke took priority over a frame, did it.

that's what i was thinking. it's like a flawless diamond set in an Elizabeth Duke gold band. Except the flawless diamond is arrospok :s

No, but it was going cheap and I like them. The frame was given to me free, which kickstarted my fixed gear project. I had no intention of riding fixed before that, as I'm really a complete roadie.

Indeed, that money could have been better spent on much more important bike components. For me 'spoks are nearly synonymous with anti-porn.

I will upgrade the components in time, of course, and there's nowt much wrong with them at the moment considering this isn't supposed to be a 'best bike', which I constructed for barely any money...and as for anti-porn, each to their own, innit.

That said i hope you enjoy your ride.

And I do, very much. Forced to ride geared today as rear tyre is fecked, very very weird feeling already.

I think it looks alright.. put some miles on it, that's the main thing. Fluoro bar tape always does it for me, and you''ll always be able to flog the arrospok and retire to the country on the dorrahs.

  • Got this ready to build but no rims :(

If you want something lo-pro then it has to be Araya (tubs if you can cope with the tyre changes)

otherwise I'd suggest plain silver Deep V's or Mavic CXP-14

Entirely dependant on what way you plan to set the bike up though....

  • just got this at the weekend 19??
