  • Not much in it, really. The open pros will likely give a smoother ride, cxp33s are renowned for being bombproof. The weight is neither here nor there really. How heavy are you, incidentally? If you're a big guy, the cxp33s will likely be the better bet. I've ridden cxp2-something in the past and they never needed truing but were a little harsh.

    Alternatives: Ambrosio Excellight - like open pros, but tends to be wheelbuilders (I'm reliably informed by the guy who built my last wheels!) rim of choice because they're both strong and well made (even, true, neat welds), and build up with very even tension (which is what you want in a wheel); IRD cadence aero or road - same kind of section as a cxp33, but lighter, maybe not as robust but you get the light and aero combo.
