No, they're not, and you need to get help. :)
They ride through there all the time, despite the smell. I was in a race in the 2007 Nocturne (came pretty much last, as I was off the back right in the first bend), and the smell was actually much better on Saturday than during the week.
There's still a cycling ban through the middle of Smithfield, which will need to keep being challenged.
