flickwg
Object17 @Flickwg - How are the injuries doing?
sorry for the slow reply, they're getting there, been told to be off the bike for 1-2 weeks so we shall see what happens
The most cycling i've done is trying to trackstand, i'm also going a little crazyhope you are going well with all your "tube time", just remeber its not illegal if you do it to Mr. 50x14
I ventured out of the house on Saturday evening for a slow spin around, seems to be holding up fine. Cycled to Polo on Sunday too. Looks like I'm back on the bike, all be it a little slower as I'm being nice to myself (for once), give it a week and I'll be back to normal.
I reckon we need some, "Say no to 15*14" T-Shirts made up to commemorate the event. ;]

those t-shirts would be hilarious, didn't get to polo this week i was in suffolk, and i'm off to Machester tomorrow, luckily by being doing random things i havent been missing the bike that much, and the knee is definitely getting better
I have laminated spoke cards, and i'm tempted to see what an iron, iron-on thsirt paper and photoshop could come up withrandomly 50*14 came up on bikeforums.net's jackass bike of the day

ok i'm gonna come up with some designs for the tshirt or at least a spoke card, imagine matching tshirts on sunday at polo ohh imagine the giggles
we shall have to meet up when we're both healed up, even if it is at bike polo
(ps - i think we can still milk this for some more laughs)

Well, tried the powergrips - couldnt get on with them, will stick them on the classifieds here before i ebay them if anyone wants them
I miss clipless too much, so I've just got back my half and half pedals, one side platform, one side spd which i lent to a mate, best of both worlds, clipped in for riding and commuting, flatties for polo and mucking around.

JOL
MKS Clips & double straps my choice
hmm btw JOL.. How you find those Continental tyres. I had them and think they are BEEPReally good. Grippy and skidproofy. I heard they have 2 manufacturers and some are shite some are good.
I love mine! Stupid expensive but yes, grippy and skidproof - i think mine will last me much longer than
my usual schwalbe blizzards or rubinos. Also been riding mine for months 15 miles a day++ and (touch wood)
no punctures as yet. -

I recommend people using clips and straps pick a clipless system and use that instead.

I know this is an old thread, but I've been after some of these for ages. Anyone know the best place to get some half n half pedals in the uk?

what you on about...SPD's are great,,,they allways pop out unexpectedly when you're skidding. it's like playing the lottery every time you skid. sometimes i cant contain my excitement.

I recommend these...
edit: oh, and if you want half'n'half they do som BMX-pedals with clipless in them as well...

had a bit of a search but, not found much
being new, and ignorant (both of which possibly a crime) i want to get some clips or toe straps for my pedals, but do i need both? are they the same thing?
if they are not the same then which are recommended?
what would be suitable for my pedals i have some euxstar track pedals E-PT12

You'll want clips and straps. Or you could get some power grips.
What's your budget?
-
• #41
Toe clips (cages) are the things which keep the straps held open, so yes, you should get both.

toe straps:
Best used in conjunction with each other

thanks, so prompt....!
not really thought of a budget, sub £100 for both i guess. silver cages and cream straps will be me first choice
-
• #44
erm wow. maybe more money than sense some would say. Clips are only like £10 from here
http://www.hubjub.co.uk/njs/njs.htm
remember to get a larger size than you would expect you need, I'm a size 9 and I run large MKS clips, they come up small being designed for Japanese racers and all.
and double straps can be anything from roughly £80 for toshi double straps but i'd reccomend these
They've been perfect for me and are a lot cheaper than toshi

And buy a couple of beers before you start as well.

I'd keep an eye on the forum, some people have been selling RX-1's (fancy cool pedals), with clips and straps for sub £100 recently.
My recommendation would be MKS toeclips (featured above), nylon straps (or laminated leather, plain leather tends to stretch), on MKS GR-9 pedals, which are available from condor, evans, etc. They're good for street use, as they're nice and flat (and therefore comfy), and quite long, which helps to compensate for the relative smallness of MKS toeclips sizes.
Hope this helps

Can anyone give me reccommendations on best or strongest clips? i had some shiny purple mks ones in med to start with but managed to snap them in a couple of weeks - turns out that they are aluminium alloy or something so arent very strong? next up where some blb branded steel clips that lasted a little longer - about a month, but they again have snapped.
Am i doing something wrong? both times the clip has snapped on the left pedal (my favoured side to pull up on when stopping) and have snapped at the 90degree angle just under where my big toe is. Would double cages help?
Any help would be muchly appreciated!
"Clips need to be slightly bigger than you need otherwise the ends of your toes will touch and this will wear your shoes and also become painful after a while."
This only applies if you're using cycling shoes with slotted shoeplates, which I doubt anyone here's using for street riding.
