  • Very nice bikes joe! Build em up properly!

  • ....yeah, Ourys and Aerospokes!

  • and white top tube protector!

  • Dude, no aeroshitshit

  • I was taking the piss

  • Firstly: joe1983, nice work ... was I on at you on RetroGrouchBike forum a while back? There was someone talking about Merlin decals on there... Think the Merlin really looks like a BJ, a lot of people go for that coloursheme I guess ... The Grubb looks really tasty. I would have lined the Grubb and not the Merlin, myself, in gold.

    she's almost done!!

black brooks, proper front wheel (32h goldtech) and stem coming payday-ish

    Fan-fucking-tastic.

I've been working on giving my guerciotti its gears back as I have now got 2 proper track frames to ride fixed. At the moment I just transfered all the geary bits from my entry-level Specialized, so it's not really spectacular but I just wanted to see if I liked the ride... and I do; it's a fantastic frameset (Guerciotti with crimped Columbus SL tubing with a Colnago master fork, bought for 60 euro).

    Here's the before:

    Here's the after...

The group on it is a bit shit (Sora/Tiagra triple/8 gear mashup with specialized branded sugino cranks and cheapo alex rims), the pedals are defo temporary (had nothing else lying around at the mo). Now I know I like the frameset and I can actually build up a geared bike (never done it before), i'm going to build it up with either 105 or Ultegra with a compact double and 10 gears. For wheels i'm going for open pro's (probably 36 spokes as I've got a brand new pair of those lying around) on ultegra hubs, radial in front, 3xcross in the back.

    Dead puppy resuscitated...

    I love a happy ending.

Em has agreed to let me take ONE photo of his new bike...and this is the only one you're ever gonna get!

    Hahahahah

very true. The term 'slack' when referring to geometry actually came about when a UK frame builder (i'm not going to mention their name) got quite drunk the night before he was due to ship off a batch of frames which he had not completed building. In his drunken state he quickly assembled the frames without paying attention to tube length etc. When his co worked found out he said 'oh blud you are slack' and thats where 'slack' geometry comes from

    fact.

    Hahahahah

  • Thanks for the comments everyone. Yep that was me skully. I know the Grubb has nicer lugs but i like the contrast of the red and ivory with the Merlin. Plus I might have the grubb lined, but it depends on if I decide to keep it not.

oh tigeruppercut - it's £70 per straight respray but mine came to £270 all in with pickup and delivery, lug lining, decals, and a small frame reapair. Oh and removing the BB's / headset cups / crown races

Thanks for getting back to me, man. I think... that is fucking expensive! The bob I've got is worth it though. Best get saving.

  • Thanks for the help Kingcutter - A true gent. True true gent!

  • That chainring is intimidating!

  • Level track bike. Well, 3 quarters level, 1 quarter plain chromoly. But I don't care, because if anything it'll make the frame a little stronger. Still has the lovely LEVEL on the seat stay too.

I am an idiot, and now have absolutely no money to get me through this summer. :D

Oh, and it's probably too small! Saying that, the head tube looks quite big for a 55cm frame..

Edit: in the spirit of keeping the forum bargan-a-licious, regardless of whether this frame fits, I'll be having big £150 sale late this week or early next week, including 2 out of the 3 track frames I now have, and maybe an aerospoke...

    Dibs... :P

  • Patience! I don't get the level till thursday evening, then I'll need to decide whether it's too small for me or not. :)

  • I've seen that Level somewhere before Alex, where did you get it, the bay?

  • *cough..........swagger

  • You what!?!?

  • You what!?!?

Nope, not swagger. Does look quite like one of his bikes on the 'bay atm.

Yep, bought it on ebay, for a song. It was listed last week, but it didn't meet it's reserve. Was relisted with no reserve and low start price, and I lost all control over the rational side of my brain and bought it. I also lost control of my bladder, and my arms and legs. It must've been quite a sight for the people in the caff I was in. :)

  • Nice looking purchase

  • You what!?!?

    hello

    i kid you not

  • ha a bell but no brakes, WTF?

  • It's Swagger's new sonic brake (patent pending)

  • so dickhead, have you picked it up yet?

and I was bidding on the swagger.
but have got something even better coming, just need to wait for college to give me more money for nothing (apart from giving up a few evenings and night times)

  • no knob-blossom, i'm picking it up on thursday evening.

  • turns out I'm a page behind this thread.
    stupid me.
    come to Wests that evening?
    ride from Central at 8:30ish?

I have a favour to ask you?
    will PM about it eventually?

  • possibly henry, depends on other commitments. Last time I took a brand new bike out on a ride I ended up on my face in the middle of victoria.

Looks like this bike is going to have delightful amounts of toe overlap too, so I might wanna practice on it first!

Feel free to PM, the internet has kindly started working in my flat again.
