  • Firstly: joe1983, nice work ... was I on at you on RetroGrouchBike forum a while back? There was someone talking about Merlin decals on there... Think the Merlin really looks like a BJ, a lot of people go for that coloursheme I guess ... The Grubb looks really tasty. I would have lined the Grubb and not the Merlin, myself, in gold.

    she's almost done!!

black brooks, proper front wheel (32h goldtech) and stem coming payday-ish

    Fan-fucking-tastic.

I've been working on giving my guerciotti its gears back as I have now got 2 proper track frames to ride fixed. At the moment I just transfered all the geary bits from my entry-level Specialized, so it's not really spectacular but I just wanted to see if I liked the ride... and I do; it's a fantastic frameset (Guerciotti with crimped Columbus SL tubing with a Colnago master fork, bought for 60 euro).

    Here's the before:

    Here's the after...

The group on it is a bit shit (Sora/Tiagra triple/8 gear mashup with specialized branded sugino cranks and cheapo alex rims), the pedals are defo temporary (had nothing else lying around at the mo). Now I know I like the frameset and I can actually build up a geared bike (never done it before), i'm going to build it up with either 105 or Ultegra with a compact double and 10 gears. For wheels i'm going for open pro's (probably 36 spokes as I've got a brand new pair of those lying around) on ultegra hubs, radial in front, 3xcross in the back.

    Dead puppy resuscitated...

    I love a happy ending.

Em has agreed to let me take ONE photo of his new bike...and this is the only one you're ever gonna get!

    Hahahahah

very true. The term 'slack' when referring to geometry actually came about when a UK frame builder (i'm not going to mention their name) got quite drunk the night before he was due to ship off a batch of frames which he had not completed building. In his drunken state he quickly assembled the frames without paying attention to tube length etc. When his co worked found out he said 'oh blud you are slack' and thats where 'slack' geometry comes from

    fact.

    Hahahahah
